Whether it's on the red carpet at the World War Z premiere or lugging her bevvy of children around the glamorous metropolises of this globe, Angelina Jolie's style in recent years has been beyond reproach. Controversial red carpet poses (remember that leg) and highly publicized life style choices aside, in our book, Jolie's style by itself is worthy of a few minutes of any professional woman's consideration. Over the last decade or so, Ms. Jolie has dressed with aplomb in a slew of situations - from black tie maternity wear to visiting Somali refugees - but it's her street style that has us most enamored. Here is a beautiful woman in her 30ies, living life under the magnifying glass of a youth obsessed culture, who chooses to embrace rather than deflect from her maturity. Instead of squeezing her svelte figure into the latest bondage dress, her signature off-duty style is marked by ultra-feminine garments in conservative cuts and high-quality materials - all in a neutral, monochromatic palette. The keys to turning such simple garb into showstopping class are ingenious and figure flattering cuts, high-quality materials and disciplined posture. Because if you slouch, that sweater is going to slouch right along with you. In the sets below, we translate some of Jolie's most stunning monochrome looks into combinations for both the office and after-hours. The all-white ensembles are characterized by a contrast of sharply tailored pieces (blazer and pants) versus a soft, flowing silk camisole. We're not normally proponents of camisoles as office wear, but in this case it was too good a piece to resist for the evening ensemble. Just make sure that if you do wear camisoles to the office, they are not too low-cut, do not display lingerie elements and keep it covered with a cardigan or blazer at all times. At night, simply swap your nude pumps for sparkling strappy sandals and pick an accent color, which you'll then apply sparingly. We chose blue - because we love the combination of white blue and silver, but a deep emerald or ruby red would work just as well. Jolie herself pulled off a striking cream-red combination in her 2012 Golden Globes outfit. We chose the second set, specifically to show you that gray plus black does not always equal boring. Again, just make sure to contrast well-structured pieces with high-quality, softer garments. We particularly loved pairing this rather skimpy knit top by Maison Martin Margiela with a more substantial sweater in a similar fabric - creating the effect of a wrap sweater that perfectly contrasts the strict line of the pencil skirt. At night, just loose the sweater, swap out your flats for a strappy heel, ditch your work tote for a graphic black and white clutch and add some rugged gold jewelry. So while not all of us are faced with the trials and tribulations of universal adoration (read: paparazzi) on a daily basis, it wouldn't hurt us to take a few pages out of Angelina Jolie's style book.
