You just haven't seen him do it before, because movie posters are carefully orchestrated bits of photographic fiction, created with just the right pose, just the right lighting, and, crucially, just the right crop. But this set of mashups by Malaysian graphic designer Jaemy Choong show us what's really going on beyond the edges of all those blockbuster film posters -- and it's hilariously domestic.
To make the images, Choong uses his camera phone to take a picture of a movie poster held in place over a real life scene, whether that slice of life equips Spiderman with a vacuum cleaner or has the great Gatsby pensively ironing his underwear. Getting the perfect angle can be difficult, but the end result is a pretty hilarious window into the film heroes' "real lives."
"It started when my friends and I were just playing around with the 'Maleficent' poster," Choong told The Huffington Post via email. "We were, like, 'Hey, wouldn't it be cool if we stood behind Angelina Jolie and finished the pose for her with our own bodies?' And the other shots just came one after another."
