Brad Pitt, Christian Bale and Ryan Gosling are teaming up to star in the financial drama “The Big Short,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
Paramount and Pitt’s Plan B are backing the film based on “Moneyball” author Michael Lewis’ bestseller “The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine.”

Adam McKay is adapting the script for the big screen and will direct.
Paramount had no comment.
Pitt is coming off of David Ayer’s tank thriller “Fury” and recently wrapped “By the Sea” opposite Angelina Jolie, who also directed. He is represented by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment.

Gosling recently wrapped Warner Bros.’ “Nice Guys” and is gearing up to release his directorial debut, “Lost River,” which premiered at Cannes. He is repped by Anonymous Content.
Bale most recently appeared as Moses in Ridley Scott’s “Exodus: Gods and Kings,” and next has Terrence Malick’s “Knight of Cups” set for release. He is also voicing Bagheera in Andy Serkis’ “Jungle Book: Origins.” He is repped by WME.
