Well, the newest rumor of the day is that Marvel is considering Rebecca Ferguson for the role of Captain Marvel in Walt Disney's upcoming Captain Marvel film as well as wherever else she might pop up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ferguson is coming off of a movie-stealing turn in Tom Cruise's fantastic and obscenely successful Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation ($40 million in its first three days in China for Paramount/Viacom Inc., by the way, it may well surpass $600m this weekend). She is of course just the latest actress rumored to be in the running or in talks for the role as Marvel's first standalone female superhero. A year ago, fresh off of Edge of Tomorrow, the likely contender was Emily Blunt. A few months ago, fresh off of Mad Max: Fury Road, it was Charlize Theron. And somewhere in between, there was the talk of Angelina Jolie directing the film, which, of course, turned to talk about her starring in it as well. And now, according to Heroic Hollywood, it's Ferguson's turn.
